Timber or wood door panels
Timber or wood as is popularly known is widely used by home owners . The main advantage of using timber and wood is that it is available easily in the market as since the material is available locally ,it can also be easily made by your carpenter . Paneled or framed doors
These are the most common types of door used in the house. The frame of the door is made of wood and the shutter panels are made of timber, hardboard, plywood or blockboard. Flush doors
These are very smooth surface doors, having plywood or medium density fiberboard fixed over timber frame which is light in comparison .. The hollow core in the centre is covered with the core cardboard material. The frames of flush doors are made of either steel or wood. These are widely in demand in the market all because of the low price, good quality, appearance and the longetivity. If you wish to use such doors for bathrooms then make sure to cover the innerface of the door with aluminium sheets or the wood gets swollen when comes in contact with water.
- Steel doors
Steel is a good substitute for wood for making the door frames. They are made out of steel angles, pressed steel plates , or channels . Holdfasts and hinges are then welded to the frame in case of steel frames. Shutters made of wood etc are then fixed on these steel frames. Steel frames are more economical than the conventional wooden frames.
Shutters can also be made out of Mild Steel (MS) sheets,which are long lasting requiring minimum maintenance. They are also available in wooden textures .For those with security concerns , steel doors are a solution as they are tough and sturdy
- Fiberglass doors
When glass fibres are collaborated with resin , they can be used for manufacturing products like windows, bathtubs and doors. It is a hard material which requires low maintenance as compared to steel, glass and the wood. Fiberglass doors are stable , they do not twist ,bend and warp. They are foam filled and offer good insulation properties. They can also be painted or super imposed with wooden panels on the surface for an authentic wooden look .

- Fiber Reinforced Plastic Doors :
FRP is a general term relating to the reinforcement of plastic with fibrous glass. , the tensile strength is about ten times that of PVC. FRP moulded doors are available in many colours and finishes including natural wood finish in the market with fire retardant properties.. Wooden supports are provided for the locks , stoppers and handles . FRP doors are getting popular nowadays.
Aluminum Doors : Aluminum is commonly used for doors, windows, partitions, curtain walls etc. besides being light in weight, they have a distinct advantage of resisting extreme weather conditions and are termite resistant . They can be side hung or sliding and are suitable for both exterior and interior locations. Lately mostly door frames are made out of aluminum and composite panel sheets are used . These are more economical and light in weight.
